Providing privacy in public collected data

Continuing the discussion from Personal data publicly published via our “Mapping Database” spreadsheet:

Ihmo this is a general problem while collecting data about topics related to transformap.
Does any proven solution to this problem exist ?

Questions regarding this topic:

  • a) Which part of publicly collected data has to be protected ?
  • b) Which mechanisms exist, to protect it ?

Which part of publicly collected data has to be protected ?

Please extend:

  • relation of individuals to groups
  • personal contact data

This data has to be protected “by default”.
Some individuals will approve their data to be spread.
How to describe the allowed targets for publishing ?

Which mechanisms exist to protect it ?

Does something like a “privacy proxy” exists ?
A privacy proxy would allow externals to contact people, while protecting their private data.
